Ep.024: All things fly fishing with the legend Kelly Galloup | Galloup's Slide Inn | Born Primitive Outdoor

Aron welcomes fly fishing legend Kelly Galloup to the podcast. They talk flys, techniques, reading the river, trout behavior and pretty much everything fly fishing! Had a great time having Kelly on and look forward to catching up with him again down the line!
Kelly is a renowned figure in the fly fishing community, celebrated for his innovations in streamer fishing and fly design. Originally from Traverse City, Michigan, he owned and operated The Troutsman fly shop and guide service for two decades before relocating to Montana in 2001. There, he purchased The Slide Inn, a lodge situated along the Madison River, which has become a hub for anglers seeking expert guidance and quality equipment.
Galloup's influence extends beyond guiding and retail; he has authored significant works such as "Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout," co-written with Bob Linsenman, which revolutionized streamer fishing techniques. His fly patterns, including the "Sex Dungeon," "Barely Legal," "Peanut Envy," and "Zoo Cougar," are widely used and have earned him a cult-like following among fly fishing enthusiasts.
In addition to his writing and fly design, Galloup contributes to the industry as a rod and line designer for St. Croix rods and Airflo lines. He also serves as an editor-at-large for Fly Fisherman Magazine and hosts "Fly Fish TV with Kelly Galloup," where he shares his expertise and passion for fly fishing.
Galloup's dedication to the sport has been recognized with several accolades, including the Living Legend Award from Fly Fishers International in 2003 and the Charles E. Brooks Memorial Life Award in 2007. His ongoing commitment continues to inspire both novice and seasoned anglers worldwide.
